I finished this piece September 20th, 2009. That red is so bright that my eyes hurt after working on it the second day. The first three coats were bright, but after the 4th coat it was almost glowing. Had a great opening on Thursday for the Recent Acquisitions show at MDC Kendall. Had some great conversations with people encompassing a range of topics, including one of my favorite films; Tarkovsky's Solaris, as well as an extended interlude on Italian surrealism. Also, this week a good friend of mine from high school was in Miami. I had not seen or spoken to him in about 12 years; the summer of 1997, when both our lives were much different. It was great seeing Mike again and meeting his newly wedded wife. Gonna have to get up to MN again one of these days.
