I created an art board for this years Cooke Street Carnival in Raleigh. A picture of the board is here..
Cooke Street Carnival is a grassroots neighborhood festival that happens each Fall on Cooke Street which is located in the Idlewild Neighborhood, just a few blocks East of Historic Oakwood in Downtown Raleigh (MAP HERE). The event was inspired by the Notting Hill Carnival in London, Mardi Gras in London, and Chinese Carnivals, as well as your typical Fall Festivals/Carnivals that happen all around the South each year.
Each year, the Cooke Street Carnival brings together over 5,000 of Raleigh's citizens to celebrate local arts, culture and music. Over 30 Raleigh art vendors, local food trucks, beer vendors, multiple bands and a large group of artists and circus performers are expected to participate in the event. Local bands Bombadil, Lonnie Walker, Professor Toon and The Spacemen will headline the entertainment which will also include a dunking booth, a Peep Flamingo eating contest, a slow bike race sponsored by Oak City Cycling Project, artist created photo-opp boards, a bunch of activities for the kids and other carnival inspired antics.
Each year, The Cooke Street Carnival picks a locally based charity to sponsor and this year it will be the Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina. So bring out your canned foods and look forward to having a fun Fall time at the carnival. For more information please visit http://cookestreetcarnival.com/

Further Complications - Solo show at Durham Art Guild, Main Gallery, 120 Morris St. Durham NC 27701. Artists' reception is at 5pm on October 21st (Third Friday). Exhibit on view October 8th-November 13th. This selection of work encompasses the recent shift to multi-linear forms in my work. This added dimension allows for exploration of more complicated shapes and color combinations. The complexities of these shapes also presents a greater multi-facial effect than previous work. Each of these faces has multiple presentations reflecting and reacting to the current times. "Social Commentary" by Murry Handler will be showing concurrently in the main gallery. More details at the Durham Art Guild site.

Ross Ford - Iterative Expression - Saturday June 5th, 2010 7pm - GAB Studio - 105 NW 23rd Street, Miami FL 33127
This will be a big show featuring a lot of work from the last few years. I will be hanging a large number of paintings, plus many drawings and pages from my sketchbook. Everything will be hung in chronological order so that you can see the progression of line and color. There will be beer and a special musical performance by Artofficial. www.artofficialmusic.net
Ross Ford outlines his creative philosophy, Iterative Expression, a continuing exploration of emotion through a consistent process. The shape of chaos can be defined by consistent measurement. When Ford started showing his expressive iterations on Lincoln Road in 2006, they were recognizable faces, since then they have mutated into something else, become more abstract, complex and less recognizable. That progression is what Iterative Expression is all about: a constant metamorphosis of line and color that defines an internal subconscious space. Each painting is an evolution of the last. Whereas repetition aims to produce identical copies, the goal of iteration is produce unique variations. Since 2006 he has produced nearly 400 large paintings, each different, each evolved from the last. This progression will be on display at GAB Studio on June 5th. The paintings will be hung in chronological order so that the evolution can be experienced. In addition to the paintings, drawings and pages from his sketchbook illuminating the creative process will also be on display. This exhibit represents the last 4 years of work in Miami, beginning with paintings that he originally sold on the street to his most recent studio work.
Since 2006 Ford has been showing his work in various locations around Miami. Starting on the street, he graduated to nightclubs and alternative spaces, then to Butter Gallery in 2007. Since then he has been working out of his studio at the Bakehouse Art Complex and participating in various shows at spaces like Artlab33, GAB Studio and the Overthrow booth at Aqua Art Fair in Wynwood.

How do I get my JUST RELIEVE Benefit Show tickets?
There are two ways of purchasing your tickets; you can get them by emailing us (tickets@justrelieve.org) or purchase them online (www.wantickets.com search keyword JustRelieve)
What is Just Relieve?
Just Relieve is a non-profit organization established by Tuly Andrea Gonzalez in 2006 at the age of eighteen years old. The Just Relieve Show was what was supposed to be a one time benefit show to assist the victims of Hurricane Katrina affected by the devastation left behind. Due to the overwhelming response and thanks to the volume of supporters, Miss Gonzalez and Just Relieve continued efforts to raise awareness for various causes and assist those in need.
Unfortunately, due to a tragic automobile accident we recently experienced the tragic loss of our founder. She was twenty years old. In honor of Miss Gonzalez's memory, The Just Relieve Foundation has continued to carry on Miss Gonzalez's vision as a way to continue her legacy. As a non-profit organization we wish to conquer those causes which have long plagued our communities.
Please join us as we work towards putting on our next fund raising event. This next event will go to assisting underprivileged children in our community, who exemplify extraordinary talent in the performing arts. Through performing arts we find common ground and share a passion. Just Relieve and its performers have the opportunity to express themselves while also making a contribution. We yearn to build a network of good hearted, well educated individuals who wish to help make a difference and build cultural growth in our community. It is our whole hearted belief that "The more you give, the less you need."- Santos Rodriguez.
Mission Statement
Through performing and visual Arts, Just Relieve strives to bring people together to raise charitable contributions for causes related to education, poverty, underprivileged communities, health and natural disasters. Just Relieve will raise awareness throughout various communities regarding such humanitarian causes, while providing quality entertainment and stimulating cultural growth.

TIMELINE - explores the perception of Miami through the artists' lens, spanning
different temporal periods in Miami's ever-fluctuating cityscape. Featuring artists from diverse generations who each bring their own experiences of Miami into their
work, this show spans over forty years of Miami's evolution.
From the glamour of South Beach to the grit and resilience of Overtown, layers of
time and meaning are stripped away and exposed via performance, painting,
photography and sculpture.
With established artists such as Purvis Young and his rich paintings of divine
multicultural diaspora, to emerging new talents such as Gustavo Oviedo with his non-linear documentation of the graffiti experience and impressionistic self-taught
artist Bayunga Kialeuka's, this important exhibit examines the artistic observations
of varying mindsets, different social environments, and different eras, culminating in an experience which transcends specifics and instead assimilates these works into a broader sense of communal identity.
DATES:
Open to the public from Dec. 3rd to Dec. 13th - 12pm to 5pm
