Studio Moving Sale

I am sad to announce that I moving my studio out of Golden Belt in Durham at the end of September. I love the space and the community but since the birth of my son Ryland it has been difficult to get here as much as I need to. Most of my recent work has been done at home (in the middle of the night). At any rate, as I transition to the new home studio I am having a studio cleaning sale 9/20 and 9/21.…

New Painting – Number 431

I have finally completed this painting, Number 431.  I started this back in November after completing the three blue paintings (427-430).  After getting derailed by Thanksgiving, then Art Basel, then a trip up to New Hampshire for Christmas it is finally done. This is another wall-sized painting – 60″ x 90″ – that’s 5 ft by 7.5 ft. I have 3 more this size planned.

06/02/12 New Painting

This took much longer to complete than I anticipated.

I started on May 5th, 2012 and finished a month later, June 2nd.  It is the largest painting I have ever done at 7 1/2 feet tall by 5 feet wide.  I have another one planned.  I will start on that after we get back from Miami, next week.  When I originally painted out all the colors I had only 2 of each color, similar to the color set on 423 but decided the next day that some of the colors needed 3 variations. …

The situation in the studio right now

So I got some new toys:

I have been telling myself to check out refillable paint pens for awhile.  I have had not so great luck with the regular kind filled with enamel paint with the pump action nib.   I was never happy with the line quality and I found a lot of the colors would bleach out in the sun.  But a lot of companies are now making refillable ones that you can fill with whatever you want. I checked out a bunch of different places online and ended up placing an order from
